Wouldn’t it be nice if your customers knew the basics of a roofing system before they met with you? If they understood the different benefits attached to the products you work with, without having to sit through an extensive sales pitch? That’s what we thought – and why we developed the Roofing Decider.
How It Came About
After working with a variety of roofing contractors, we noticed there was a common thread in their sales process: people need to have some type of online source that helps them select the right type of roof and system for their home – but they do not always want to talk to a salesperson.
One of our clients and good friends, Ken Kelly, first came up with the idea of an online solution to this problem and approached us with his thoughts. We collaborated on and refined the idea, design and development of what has come to be known as the Roofing Decider Software.
How It Works:
The Roofing Decider provides a visual for the average homeowner / consumer. It offers information on the various components that go into a roofing system, as well as the many degrees of quality that can be obtained through different products. It also takes your online visitor through the process of installing a shingle roof: from a visual of a roofing system, to a step-by-step selection of roofing products (customized to each contractor).
At the end, the user is presented with an overview of the selections he/she made, and is given the option to submit the results to the roofing company.
When submitted, the roofing contractor receives a fairly comprehensive list of what the client is looking for in a roof, contact information, address, and an estimated budget.
Here’s What It Looks Like:
The first glance is always an overview that simply states: these are the components of a roof.
In each additional step, the Decider is customized with whatever manufacturer or products your company uses. Contractors different on the amount of information they would like to have displayed. Some prefer to offer only the “bare minimum”, while others see it as an opportunity to provide in-depth facts about the roofing process. It all depends on how you use the Decider within your sales process.
A Variety of Uses
The Roofing Decider can be used in many different ways.
In the most basic sense, it enables a homeowner to design the roof of his or her home without worrying about outside sales pressure.
The Decider can act as a Storm Liaison. When a storm hits, your sales team may be struggling to keep up with paperwork and incoming leads. In these cases, the Roofing Decider can act as a liaison: direct your leads to the Decider, and you will receive a detailed list of their information and roof needs delivered straight into your inbox.
An Aid to the Sales Process. Many contractors use the Decider in their sales process. Some will walk through it with their clients while planning a new roof. Others have added YouTube videos to each step, contributing a valuable dimension of interactivity.
The Roofing Decider works because it can be customized to fit your company’s needs. It can either offer a surplus of information – or just the bare minimum needed to make a decision.
You can choose to add in the Google map feature, which enables the person filling out the form to pinpoint the building that they want the roof replaced on. When the roofing contractor receives the report, they also receive the exact coordinates, effectively eliminating the fear of working on the wrong house. (I Googled that. Apparently it happens.)
The Decider is designed to be completely responsive (automatically reformatting to fit all types of devices, from PCs to iPhones).
Is this a sales tool for you?
If you are interested in the Decider Software, here are a few thoughts to consider:
- This software is compatible with websites built on a WordPress platform.
- Look at your sales process & simplify it: what are the most important features that your customers have to be aware of?
- Although the Decider can be used as a “fun feature” on your website – it can also become an integral part of your sales process. It’s up to you to determine where you would like to fit it in.
The Roofing Decider enables a user to learn the difference between what any contractor can do (bare minimum) and the benefits attached to working with a quality “platinum preferred” contractor (additional warranties, etc.)
It’s a great tool – and we’re proud to offer it.
